Odor: characteristic Use: TMA is used in the synthesis of plasticisers and for producing epoxy and alkyd resins as well as a variety of other products including dyes, insecticides, polyester resins and pharmaceuticals. It is also widely used in the formulation of paints and plastics. Trimellitic anhydride is used mainly in the synthesis of trimellitate esters. These esters are used as plasticisers for polyvinyl chloride, especially when temperature stability is required. TMA is less volatile and less water-soluble than corresponding phthalates. This is useful for car interior linings, the wire enamels used to coat magnetic wire, and for other applications where high thermal resistance is required. TMA is often used as a binder for glass fibres, sand, and other aggregates |

| Trimellitic Anhydride (TMA)
Odor: characteristic Use: Trimellitic Anhydride is used in the production of resins, powder coatings, and as a binder for glass fibers, and other aggregates. It is also used as an embossing agent for vinyl flooring and as a curing agent for epoxy resins and as an intermediate for the synthesis of surface coatings chemicals, adhesives, polymers, dyes printing inks, pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. |
